  3.  Welcome to mIRC v4.72, an Internet Relay Chat Client.
  4.  
  5.  For those of you new to the internet, IRC stands for Internet
  6.  Relay Chat. The IRC network is a virtual meeting place where
  7.  people from all over the world can meet and talk.
  8.  
  9.  mIRC attempts to provide a user-friendly interface for use
  10.  with the IRC network.
  11.  
  12.  It has the following features:

  14.   Coloured text to ease reading.
  15.   Uncluttered display.
  16.   Comprehensive Alias definitions.
  17.   Configurable multi-level popup menus.
  18.   DCC Send/Get/Chat/Resume.
  19.   Scripting commands.
  20.   Finger client.
  21.   Remote CTCP tool.
  22.   Simple Event handler.
  23.   Some basic fonts.
  24.   Ident server.
  25.   Simple File-server.
  26.   URL Catcher.
  27.   Command history.
  28.   Function Key definitions.
  29.   Toolbar with tooltips.
  30.   Finger server.
  31.   Window Switchbar.
  32.   A handful of options.
  33.   Many other useful bits and pieces.

  35.  The various parts of this client have been designed with the aim of
  36.  simplifying and speeding an IRC session.
  37.

  39.  To be able to use mIRC, you need several things:
  40.  
  41.  1. Access to the internet.
  42.  2. Software for your machine that connects you to the internet.
  43.     mIRC requires a WINSOCK.DLL, of which several versions are
  44.     available. You will need this before you can use mIRC.
  45.  
  46.  
  47.  Since you're reading this file, then I assume you've already
  48.  run the install program and it has installed all the files
  49.  for you automatically.

  80.  These should all remain in the mIRC directory together.

  82.  To use the 32-bit version you must be running a 32-bit operating
  83.  system and a 32-bit winsock.

  85.  Once you have installed mIRC, you can run it, fill in the required
  86.  setup information, and connect to the IRC server.
